Watering
Shallow rooted plants require more water as
compared to deep rooted plants that find it easier to
source for water in the deeper sections of the soil.
Plants with shallow roots thrive on the moisture that’s
available in the first few inches of the soil which is
why regulating water content is crucial.
Watering can be done with a spray of evenly
scattered on the surface to avoid the water
congregating in one particular spot which would
eventually pave way for root exposure.

Mulching
Mulching can prove to be extremely beneficial for
your shallow root perennials essentially because of its
protection to the roots that are located just below the
surface of the soil.

Planter Size
The advantage with shallow rooted plants is that they
can blossom in the smallest containers and planters.
This property makes it a great plant for creative
people who experiment with creating their own
planters with raw materials they have in their home.
